Norton Juster on The Phantom Tollbooth: This month marks the 50th anniversary of that bored child’s transformative journey. The Phantom Tollbooth was the first book I had ever written and my first collaboration with the cartoonist Jules Feiffer, who provided the marvelous illustrations. [more]

Since we’ve been In something of holding pattern on wedding planning the last few months, what with us being way ahead in our timeline and all, I’ve been focusing my energy on designing our wedding website, or aptly named ‘wedsite’. I have no idea when it’s supposed to go live in terms of wedding etiquette, but I had nothing better to do there for a while and just ADORE designing and coding, so I went ahead and created the entire thing. It’s all ready now, but missing some of the important info needed before we can launch (like accommodations and registry info that we haven’t event begin to delve into).
Eventually it will be at saraandben.com — a happy happenstance thanks to a recent bride also named Sara who was really sweet and gave me their website when they were done with it in July — but it’s not there yet so don’t get all freaked out by the grossness that’s there right now. I’m currently hiding it on my personal site so I can test it and make it perfect for launch :)
I think the best part of the whole experience was creating our wedding ‘logo’ with my mom. After a few back-and-forth emails over the course of a few weeks, one day we decided to video chat/screen share and ended up working on it for hours. And now it’s not only perfect, but it’s a beautiful labor of love, and as a bonus Ben loves it too ;)
When the time comes I’ll blast it all over the Internet, but until the you’ll just have to wait and shiver in anticipation.
Ooh am I behind in updating! I’m currently at 139 lb and weighing again next week. The workouts continue to challenge me and push my body to new lengths and it’s amazing. I can jog about .5 mi at a time, nonstop, and we do 3-4 with walking intervals. I’m even SPRINTING in short stints—I never thought my body would be able to handle that level of impact. It’s stunning how far I’ve come. And anyone who wants to go in for an ab challenge: my abs will kick your abs ass! I feel incredible and all of my clothes are too big :) I kind of love it, I love my body, and it made trying on wedding dresses last weekend with the gals so much fun (and so much less stressful than if I hadn’t been comfortable with my body and self-image). It doesn’t hurt that I’ve also found the world’s most amazing massage therapist to help me manage my regular FM aches and pains on a weekly basis. Between Jess (my trainer) and Dov (my new massage therapist) I feel better and more energetic than I have in years. Now it’s T minus 1 year to the big day… a few more pounds to go and then it’s just maintaining. Look out epic New Orleans wedding, cuz HERE I COME!
